PS exchange and the reason behind the ......

....FIVE weeks of DH at work/sea. He left yesterday afternoon. Instead of four weeks he will be away for five weeks as we are planning to go home to ASIA to visit my family in July. If only the prize of the tickets will go down a bit. I find 1200.00 euro per persoon too much. We do have to decide next month when he comes and book the sits. We would like to stay there for four weeks and he wants to have a couple of days to rest before going back to sea, so he really need the five weeks off. It's exactly two years this month since our last visit and the kids really wants to go back again.

I felt really sad and a bit guilty yesterday after he left. I was not really myself the last days, rather too quiet or easily irritated, there was a bit of friction between us because of just small things around the house or the kids. Also, i am not really looking forward to the coming vacation of the kids without their father. Like next week, it's the crocus vaction--that's one week and in April for the May vacation and that is two weeks. Hmmm...we'll see how we're gonna manage.

I received my Prairie Schooler exchange from Andrea and i LOVE it. It is soooo beautifully stitched and finished. Thank you so much Andrea, also for the lovely card.

Such a lovely matching fabric at the back with our initials. I do feel lucky to receive one of your lovely creations.

I haven't sent mine yet, hopefully before the end of this week. The stitching was finished a long time ago but still have to finish it off to somehting.

I have a lot to catch up as i haven't done much stitching when hubby was home ,also i am way behind on groups and blogs, i don't even know where to start.

Thank you all for the lovely comments on my last post, the draw is still open until the 14th of this month.

Mylene,

I know it is so hard to have the kids by yourself. I've done it before when my DH has been in the Philippines and it's no picnic. I think the ages of your kids make it difficult too.

I'm thinking of you and hoping things will go well. Please e-mail me any time that you need a listening ear OK?

Your PS exchange from Andrea is lovely! Her stitching is flawless. I have a needleroll that she gave me in an exchange and I marvel at how perfect it is.

(((((hugs))))) Mylene. I know what you mean - when my DH was in the RAF he was away alot and I was alone with my son , it was like being a single parent. He's a civvy now and the roles are reversed as his job makes it easier for him to sort the child care for my daughter as I work full time in town wheras his job is in the village and it's not 9 till 5. Your time will come - be strong

What a beautiful exchange piece! Just lovely.

Big hugs to you over your DH being away. Don't be too hard on yourself, either, for being out of sorts before he left. I'm sure he understands & knows that while he has a hard job, being alone with the kids isn't easy, either. Best of luck with the plans for the trip home, too. I know how hard it is to be away from home for too long. Big hugs.

In the beginning the five weeks seem to be so long but after a while you'll get used to it and time will fly. Just fill the five weeks with your stitching and with blogging and all the other things you like doing.

You received a very nice PS exchange piece!

5 weeks is a long time to be away at a time, my OH works away from Monday-Friday every week sometimes you just want some adult company.
Although saying that i think he would get under my feet if he was here all the time lol. Try not to be to down, hope you manage to sort something out for that holiday, it will be something to look forward to.

Don't be too hard on yourself, Mylene, about the tension before your dh left. I experienced the same thing when my dh was away on business for extended amounts of time, then he'd come home for a weekend, then off again. I think we try to prepare emotionally for the separation, just a little bit too early. :) Stay busy and keep stitching! Hugs!

Having Niek away for 2 weeks seems awful to me. 5 weeks is beyond my ability to imagine. :( Wishing you a lot of fun anyway, especially over the kids' upcoming vacation.

Love the PS exchange you received! :D

Hoi Mylene, wat is zo'n vakantie duur he?
