I sitched this one on a lighter aida fabric as i can't get this dark one here. I am not sure yet how am i going to finish this one.

Two sachets which i filled in with lavendels. Quite quick finishes.

Finished the backstitching of this one and ready for posting this week. I wonder what i will get next. This is a rr with 9 people and i don't know anymore which theme is the next. I have the list somewhere, atleast we have six weeks to stitch the piece.

Last weekend went well with Chris so we let him go to school yesterday and to his chess club that evening. This morning, he was coughing and it doesný sound good so we didn't let him go to school, instead we call the doctor and appointment was scheduled this afternoon. I am at work then so dh took him to the doctor. Glad it was not that bad as we had expected, just lots of phlegm so we have to give him cough syrup for the coming days.
Here's a quick finished last weekend. A san man freebie design.

.........and here's what i have to finish before the weekend. It's a rr and should have to be mailed on the first of may. The 'x'are all done, just the back stitching to be done, not much actually but it does needed quite some time for it.

A bit update from here....

Our youngest son is sick again, well a couple of weeks ago he has chicken pox. Since wednesday late afternoon he has been playing outside with his friends, it was then very windy and cold, suddenly he came home crying and said his head is painful. We thought he had fallen off or something but he said not at all. I settled him on the couch and after half an hour he's so warm. We took his temperature and it was quite high(38.9) so we gave him medicine. The next morning(yesterday), he seems fine and much as he want to go to school we didn't let him. In the afternoon his temperature is high again.
This morning when he woke up he's fine and played with Raymon, the little boy i take care on friday mornings, after lunch he slept on the couch for about half an hour. An hour after he woke up he's temperature is high again so we are now puzzeled why. If it goes on this weekend, we are going to take him to the doctor.

Well, hope everyone have a nice weekend.

SBQ

SBQ - April 19, 2006
Q. Do you do obligation or deadline-based stitching? Why or why not? If you do, do you tend to get in over your head and why?

Yes i do, with round robins, exchanges especially for birthday cards each month; cards that must stitched, blocks and other items. For some, i really try to finished way ahead of time, like birthday cards & gifts. For the round robins, actually the same when i received one i try to find the right pattern to stitched if it is not included and make a start.

SBQ - April 12 2006
Q. For those of you that stitch while riding in the car or on the train, how do you cope with the bumps and the motion? Do you have any tips for others?

I did try stitching in the car while dh's driving but it didn't really work out, but with hardanger i had done it before that is when it's the basic ones and not too complicated.
As i remember the last time i travel with the train is two years ago, yes i did stitched and it went fine, so with that it is fine, just don't travel with the train often.

Had to work unexpectedly....

We were at my MIL's place for coffee at around midday when DH's mobile rang, he taught oooooppppps, he's needed somewhere but it was my boss asking if i can help out for the evening and i said sure. So i went in at around six and wow! it was really busy in the restaurant. Not really all tourist but lots are also from the island who just want out for dinner. Oh well, we did yesterday too!!! Some was susrprised to see me as lots know i don't work during weekend anymore. It was great though to work with a couple of colleagues i don't normally work with. I can say they are happy to see me and i am glad to hear that off course.

Well, i finished this one up last night. My x'mas april sal for one of the yahoo group. This is from JCS ornaments 2004. I have quite some finishes for christmas ornaments and still till now i haven't made one up. Hopefully sooooooooooooooooooooon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, off for me to bed as i have to work again tomorrow and much as i want to sleep in i think the kids will wake us up very early.

Thanks so much for leaving comments on my blog. I really appreciate them. Sorry, can't visit any blog tonight, hope later this week.

A quick finished!

We went out for dinner and just came back. I am glad we had booked it earlier this week as it's really too busy. We arrived at six, quite early actually and all the tables are reserved! This is our first time to this restaurant, it's a sort of buffet restaurant where you picked or chose the things you want and then bring it to the counter and they'll cook it for you. Lots of choices, different meat cut into pieces and marinated, same as with fishes and vegetables. Really a lot i haven't taste them all. We like it and Grace too but Chris haven't tried any except some fried potatoes. Looking at the pics taken...our shirts are all kind of blue colours!

Here's a quick finished for me this week, a hardanger pin cushion. It's for a friends birthday next week. She lives here too on the island and does cross stitch but not so much as i do.

Can't believe it but....

...it's nearly a week that i haven't stitch and i really miss it. After working last of couple of days, it was toooooo busy and ended up working long hours. About nine hours each day. On our half hour coffee break, still have to work through. Lots of tourist around, were most are Germans. I think Easter break started. Here in Holland, schools have only friday and monday off.
I woke up this morning with terrible headache, helped Grace till she left for school after eight, Chris have no school on wednesdays. When Grace left i went back to bed and try to rest, after an hour my heads still hurts so i went downstairs and took a couple paracetamol. If possible i don't like to take medecines, but sometimes i think it is really needed.

The day is nearly over and i haven't done much, still lots of ironing to be done and other household works.

What a busy day yesterday! DH celebrated his birthday and since it is saturday a lot of friends and family came. It was nearly 2AM when the last visitors left last night.
I woke up with a headache and feeling dizzy yesterday morning, i think from luck of sleep as i got up early, past 7am. It was because Grace have swimming lesson, when she was picked up at nine i went back to bed and rest for about an hour. When i got up around ten, i felt much better. Went downstairs and found dh doing the vacuming which i was glad as i needed to prepare more things before visitors arrived, especially the tomato soup. When that was done, a couple of friends from the mainland called that they are arriving with the 12 o'clock ferry so off was dh to pick them up. It's about ten minutes drive from the house to the ferry.
At around 3pm, when most of the visitors arrived, friends and families. We haven't expected it that most came in the afternoon, as ussually most come in the evening. So i wasn't really prepared for and living room is really ful, was difficult to have a clear conversation i mean on my part as i am more busy for drinks and all the snacks. Well, everyone's enjoying themself. At around six when one after the other are leaving. And friends from the mainland took the 8pm ferry. While dh took them to the ferry, i tried to washed the dishes, wasn't done with it and the next visitors for the evening came in. At least, it wasn't so busy as in the afternoon so i was able to settle down too and had a nice chat with everyone.
Oh well, everyone likes the snacks...actually they always expected that i will make different snacks. For cake/tart, most try to skip it so i don't make much of it.

We heard last night that the easter parade is today and Chris wants to join but we didn't prepared anything. Glad it was in the afternoon so this morning dh decorate the stick for Chris and accompanied him for the parade. I have to stay home as i have lots of ironing, cleaning and tidying up to do. Have to work the coming days and i prefer that these are done otherwise it will have to wait until the middle of the week. Here's a couple of pics that dh had taken of the parade.

Snacks & cakes

This is the apricot tart that i make with Grace. Next is the small cakes that Chris wanted and he had decorate it himself.

These are the snacks that i had just made. Think i better go and sleep as it's 1 AM already and i have to get up early for more things to do....

Been for a long walk today, about 5 kilometers. It is still cool and very windy but i really needed to start something as i really gained a lot. I'd rather not go to the sports center so i promised myself to go for a walk 3 or 4 times a week. We also have to minimize drinking wine or beer, i think that's one of the reason why we had gained quite much.

Here's my latest finish so far. Not much stitching done the last days and probably until after the weekend.
DH had finished painting at the kitchen so i can clean tomorrow, but before that we have to go for more groceries. We've done the half today, but still need a lot more for his birthday on saturday.

Today's SBQ is:

Do you stitch "on the go?" (On the commute to and from work, during
your lunch break, waiting for the kids, etc.) If so, do you have a
specific "travel" project or do you just grab whatever you happen to
be working on and take it with you?

Definitely not on the way to work as i go with the bike and takes me a few minutes only. Recently, dh takes the kids to a few clubs they are in as it's my work day or he has to drive and i can't. I do take stitching with me if we are visiting friends at the mainland or going out of the country like going to Asia visiting my family or on vacation. I don't have a specific project, i'll just take whatever i am doing/busy at that time.

This morning, i and another colleague went to visit an ex colleague who has twins last November. Ýes, it took us a while before going but they don't stay here now on the island. Only once in a while when they come if her husband has a few days off.
The twins was born nine weeks early and had stayed quite a while in hospital. Sem and Jari are fine now, luckily....and they are sooooooooooo cute. One pic is me and cora holding both babies and the other is with their mum, Tineke.

Easter cards

Here's the easter cards, only the pics isn't that well taken. Took it last night after placing them into the cards. I know i don't have time today for taking pics...

Woke up quite late with Chris. Grace woke up earlier and dh too as he has to bring her to the swimming club at nine. They are back half past ten and had a cup of coffee and did a few tidying up. At half past eleven, dh brought us ( me & Grace) to the ferry. We went shopping for some clothes for her.
About the painting last night, the colour turn out darker than we had expected so dh went and bought a lighter one and paint over the blue one. Look much much better, he has only manage to do a couple of door post as he has to pick us up at 5. While Chris has been invited to stay the whole afternoon at one of his friends. After a quick dinner, we picked him up before seven this evening and his friend Mels and mels sister Lynn ( also a friend of Grace) and then went to the cinema, for the film 'Ice Age 2'. I can say it's a very nice film, everyone enjoys it.

February ornament..

...finished just right on time. This is my very first into a round ornament. I am so glad it turned out well, though honestly it was quite d...
