Max is not well!

(you can click on all pictures to enlarge if you want) Thought to share about Max here on my blog as i know some knows all about our relationship with him. We received a very late call the other night from hubby's elder sister that Max isn't that well, haven't been eating for a few days now. So we decided to go and visit him yesterday morning after stopping by at the owner's work place. He said, he took him to the vet last monday but they couldn't find out why he isn't eating at all. Said, probably because he is old....(he's now 9). We went to see him and oh my...he is outside with the temperature of 4 degrees celcius... really in a pitiful state. We can't understand why the owner let him stay outside. They're just two of them, Max and hubby's ex-brother-in-law. He works all day so Max alone!
We are really crazy of Max especially hubby so we decided at that moment to take him with us and call the owner and it was no problem. I thought Max really likes to stay outside so i expect him that he go and stay at our backyard but since we came home yesterday morning he's been inside all the time except when we took him for a short walk in the afternoon. We don't know if he's sick or because of old age, it seems like more he's sick though. He has lost a lot of weight as you can see on the picture above... and the pictures i've taken last February during his short visit here. When we took him to the dyke yesterday afternoon he has to stopped a few times to rest, he is really weak... till now he hasn't taken any food yet. Atleast he drinks bit by bit. I just don't know what will happen next...or how long he will stay here...

Since i am here thought to share a few pictures from our weekend. Chris and his friends joined in on the playbackshow last saturday evening here in the village. They had chosen "kiss" (i was made for loving you) for their act. As they are four of them they had started early painting their faces, me and hubby been to his elder sister's birthday but not for long as i felt guilty while the other mother's are doing the works, glad we were on time to help out as you can see on the picture, hubby painting one of the boys.

On their category were so many acts, i think around 21 and some are really very good. In the end they got the prize for originality!. It was around 1am when we finally got home but atleast the kids had enjoyed it.
The next day, sunday...we went to visit friends on the mainland. I've seen the baby a day after his birth as i went to visit them at the hospital but not hubby and the kids.

My lower back hurts! It happened last saturday morning while preparing to go for Chris football game. I thought it will disappear after a while but still hurts. oh, i hate to go to the doctor but if it will persist i think i have to go. I haven't started sorting the albums yet as it's busy everyday, mostly socially!

Thank you all so much for your continued visits on my blog and all the kind comments. They mean so much to me! Hope everyone's having a wonderful week.

Oh no POOR Max, it is so awful when a much loved pet becomes ill. Did the vet not want to do more tests? Hope they find out what is wrong soon and it is treatable.
Also hope you back is feeling better.
Take care and a big hug from me to you.

so sad about Max. I wonder what is going on. Poor thing. 9 years doesn't sound that old to me, but I know big dogs are different than little dogs. My dog is about 15 years old. Congrats to Chris & his friends. How fun! And awww about the baby. Such nice pictures. You look great Mylene!!!!!!!

Poor Max! On the other hand, 9 is a lot for a Bernese, but then again, he's not *too* old yet. Did the vet take a blood sample? That could show something.

Sorry to read about Max, I hope he improves soon. Hope your back gets better soon. Looks like you all had a great weekend.

So sorry to hear that Max is not doing well, Mylene. He is a Bernese Mountain dog, isn't he? That is the kind of dog my sister has and she is having all sorts of health problems with her, too (and she is only six!). I think that breed tends to have difficulties quite often. Hope they can figure it out soon.

Love the photos of you holding the baby--you look so happy!

A real good and bad news post. So sorry to hear about Max. Hope he recovers soon. And backs always seem to act up when you least expect them to and take longer to heal than you want them to. Hope yours perks up soon.

Love the 'band'!

What poison's our animals is the kibble they eat. Max should be changed to a raw diet as nature intended for him to eat. I feed all six my bulldogs a raw diet and they are in excellent health. Before, when I fed kibble, many of my dogs came down with cancer and other problems related to the food they ate. I nearly lost three dogs at once after a delivery of Eukanuba kibble that was contaminated with something. Join the Raw meaty bone forum and inform yourself as to what your animal should REALLY be eating. Nothing in kibble can generate life as its completely dead and loaded with carbs when a dog is a carnivore.

Poor poor Max. It is heartbreaking when a pet becomes ill. They can't really tell you what's wrong. :( Try tempting him with some chicken or meat. If he keeps that down then add some rice to it. I wonder if the vet took xrays or ran bloodwork. 9 is elderly for this breed but not old. 11 or 12 would be old.

Love the photos of the family. It sure looks like the children had fun.

I hope your back is feeling a bit better.

Sorry Max is so sick. Try giving him a little rice and chicken to see if he will eat it. It's suppose to be good for their digestion. Nice pictures of the kids.

Hello Mylene, So sorry to hear about Max,hopefully something will be able to be done about him. I know the bigger type dogs don't live as long as little dogs but it does sound as if he may have a blockage of some sorts to stop him eating. I just loved the photo's of Kiss they did a great job.Hopefully everthing works out with Max,prayers coming your way.
Bev.

Try feeding max cooked white rice....it won't harm them and may give him his appetite....also ask the vet about giving him part of a pepcid ac tablet. our vet recommended that when our golden wasn't eating....he had gotten a bunny and had an upset stomach from that and one partial pepcid took care of that.

Sad to hear Max is not feeling well. I'm sure it's probably the feeling of being left out, I mean, alone and outside the house, poor thing!

My pet turtoise, Goyo, refuses to eat when I'm out of the house for too long, animals are very sensitive, so I'm sure Max will get better after spending time with your loving caring family.

Hugs!!!

I am now back in blogland and have been looking back at some of the beautiful things you have made while I have been away Mylene.

I am so sorry to hear that Max is unwell. Age would make the appatite less but I have never known a dog stop eating altogether because it was old so I feel that there is some other problem there. I do hope it gets sorted and he is well again soon.

The group look good and there make up is fantastic.
